The 97th Academy Awards took place at the Dolby Theatre, bringing together the biggest names in the film industry for a night of cinematic excellence. Hosted by Conan O’Brien, the prestigious event celebrated outstanding performances, storytelling, and technical achievements in filmmaking.

Major Wins of the Night

One of the biggest winners of the evening was Anora, which claimed the coveted Best Picture award. Director Sean Baker also took home the Oscar for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay for the film. The movie’s success cemented its place as a standout in this year’s awards season.

Adrien Brody was honored with the Best Actor in a Leading Role award for his compelling performance in The Brutalist, while Karla Sofía Gascón made history by winning Best Actress in a Leading Role for Emilia Pérez.

Supporting Roles Shine

Kieran Culkin’s performance in A Real Pain earned him the Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role, while Zoe Saldaña’s role in Emilia Pérez secured her the Best Actress in a Supporting Role award.

Writing and Cinematic Achievements

Anora also triumphed in the Best Original Screenplay category, with Sean Baker’s writing earning praise from critics and audiences alike. Meanwhile, Peter Straughan’s adaptation of Conclave won Best Adapted Screenplay.

Technical and Artistic Awards

Paul Tazewell’s work on Wicked was recognized with the Best Costume Design award, while The Brutalist won Best Cinematography and Best Original Score.

The Best International Feature Film award went to I’m Still Here, and Dune: Part Two dominated the technical categories, securing wins for Best Visual Effects and Best Sound.
