“Series toh ban gayi beta… Picture abhi baaki hai”: Karan Johar calls Aryan Khan’s The Ba***ds of Bollywood “dream, vision, passion” ahead of release

September 18, 2025, marks a milestone for Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan as his directorial debut, The Ba**ds of Bollywood*, begins streaming on Netflix. Ahead of the release, Shah Rukh Khan hosted a special screening on September 17, which saw several industry members extend their support to Aryan. Among them, filmmaker Karan Johar once again stood out as one of Aryan’s most vocal cheerleaders.

Taking to social media, Johar shared an emotional note addressed to Aryan, writing,
“Shine on son!!! Tonight is your big night… when your family, friends and the fraternity will welcome you to the movies with their arms wide out (your father made that a national gesture)… you treaded a path that many never believed you would … the daunting task of being behind the camera… of being a story teller and the captain of its execution.”

He further added, “have seen you work tirelessly and passionately for over 2 years and never once taking the opportunity given to you for granted…. You have an individual style of telling your story and I can’t wait for everyone to see and hear your voice in #badsofbollywood … I am so so proud of you and love you so much!!! (also thanks for giving me a part in the show, I was secretly dying for you to ask me). Series toh ban gayi beta… Picture abhi baaki hai!!!!!”

This is not the first time Johar has expressed his excitement for Aryan’s debut project. When the preview of the series was unveiled, he wrote, “It has everything that you would want to ‘binge’ on – ENTERTAINMENT AND DHAMAAKEDAR ENTERTAINMENT! @aryan, it’s your time to shine… welcome to the movies!!! This looks like absolute blockbuster material and I know how much hard work you have put into it for yearsss! I love youuu.”

Johar also praised actor Lakshya, who plays a key role in the series, adding, “Proper hero material and how!!! Obviously you’re ‘kill’-ing it in every sense of the manner, spotlight’s on you and it’s your time to OWN it!!!”

Earlier, during the trailer release, Johar had written, “FINALLY it’s here!! @aryan’s dream… vision… passion! All right here for you to watch, relish, enjoy, discuss & more… I cannot wait for everyone to witness the absolute madness that is ready to explode on all your screens on 18th September… dil thaam ke baithye!!!”

While Aryan prepares to step into the industry as a director, Karan Johar himself is occupied with two upcoming productions—Homebound and Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari.
