Shoojit Sircar on 1 year of I Want To Talk, "I really hope it inspires some cancer survivors"

Shoojit, your masterpiece I Want To Talk has completed one year?

Yeah, after one year of I Want To Talk, I hope that whoever has watched this film is touched by its message of resilience. I really hope it inspires some survivors, some cancer survivors who can really embrace this film and watch this film.

It is really inspiring

I’ve shown it to many of my medical and doctor friends, and they do feel that this definitely can up the ante, you know, motivate some of the patients who are going through this ordeal. So my only grouse is …

Yes?

People have watched it since last one year since its released. But still it’s not enough. I really would want that as days go by, you know, as years go by, people slowly can catch this film to see how simple things, how simple relationships can change your life, can make Arjun Sen from a ruthless marketing guy to a little bit more sensible, possibly more considerate human being.

The film has taken Abhishek Bachchan to another level

I am really grateful to Abhishek that he did this character. How beautifully he performed taking Arjun Sen from that ruthless marketing MBA. And then from there, understanding his daughter and relationships and going back and seeing what mistakes that he has made. I think all of that is a learning experience.

How has it changed your life?

I Want To Talk is a pure learning experience for me. And I hope people, whenever they can catch it and watch it, derive similar inspiration from the film.
