“I’m blown away”: Akshay Kumar reviews Dhurandhar, calls it a “gripping tale”
Akshay Kumar has joined the growing list of industry voices praising Aditya Dhar’s espionage thriller Dhurandhar. On December 10, the actor shared his reaction online, writing, “Watched Dhurandhar and I’m blown away. What a gripping tale and you’ve simply nailed it @AdityaDharFilms. We need our stories to be told in a hard-hitting way and I’m so glad the audiences are giving the film all the love it deserves.”

His post sparked a wave of comments referencing Tees Maar Khan, the 2010 film in which Akshay Kumar’s character pretends to be a director to lure Akshaye Khanna into a project—a connection viewers humorously brought up as Khanna plays one of the central roles in Dhurandhar.

Hrithik Roshan also offered strong praise for the film. Sharing a poster of Dhurandhar on Instagram, he wrote, “I love cinema, I love people who climb into a vortex and let the story take control, spin them, shake them until what they want to say is purged out of them onto that screen. Dhurandhar is an example of that. Loved the storytelling. It’s cinema.”
Roshan addressed the ongoing debate around the film, adding that while he does not agree with its politics, it did not take away from his experience as a viewer. “I may disagree with the politics of it, and argue about the responsibilities us filmmakers should bear as citizens of the world. Nevertheless, can’t ignore how I loved and learnt from this one as a student of cinema. Amazing.”

Released in theatres on December 5, 2025, Dhurandhar is the first chapter of a two-part spy action franchise directed by Aditya Dhar. The film features Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi, and is inspired by real-life covert operations linked to India’s R&AW during Operation Lyari in Karachi. The second instalment, Dhurandhar Part 2, is scheduled to hit theatres on March 19, 2026.
