Vikrant Massey opens up about wife’s 30-hour labour that changed his perspective; says, “Women endure a lot”
Vikrant Massey, who welcomed his son Vardaan with wife Sheetal Thakur in 2024, recently opened up about how deeply fatherhood has transformed him. Reflecting on his journey as a new parent, the actor admitted that the experience has reshaped his understanding of motherhood and the strength women embody. He shared that no matter how present or supportive a father tries to be, a mother’s role remains incomparable a realisation that hit him even harder after he witnessed Sheetal go through an exhausting 30-hour labour during their son’s birth.
Describing the pregnancy and birth period as emotionally powerful, Vikrant said, “During the nine months of pregnancy, to see Sheetal… and I have known Sheetal for more than 10 years. To see that little girl, to see her belly grow day by day. She went through 30 hours of labour I think. I mean women endure a lot.” He added that nothing a man does can compare: “Nothing, done by men, ‘can even come close to it.’”
The actor also reflected on his relationship with his wife and how their long-time bond helped them navigate this new phase smoothly. He opened up about the ups and downs, humorously recounting how Sheetal sometimes wakes up annoyed at him because of things he apparently did in her dreams. “The other day, she had a dream I was on a hike with some pretty girl… she woke up and she fought with me over a dream!” he laughed.
Vikrant admitted that while parenthood has transformed his life, it also deepened his admiration for women, especially for the strength and resilience shown by Sheetal during childbirth.
As he embraces fatherhood, this experience seems to have reinforced his belief that parenting is not just about being present; it’s about respect, empathy and truly valuing what a mother goes through.
