EXCLUSIVE: Laalo actress Reeva Rachh on how her life changed after doing the film, “People now recognize me when they see me on the road”

The Gujarati movie Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate released last year during Diwali to a low opening. However, later on, it saw a sudden jump in numbers and the collections kept on increasing. The movie ultimately reached the magic figure of Rs. 100 crores. Directed by Ankit Sakhiya, it stars Karan Joshi, Shruhad Goswami and Reeva Rachh in lead roles. Laalo released in Hindi in cinemas from today onwards.

The film tells the story of an auto rickshaw driver Lalji aka Laalo (Joshi), who gets on an immoral path due to circumstances. He once enters a stranger’s house with the aim of robbery but gets trapped inside. This is when the character of Lord Krishna (Goswami) arrives to guide him. Reeva plays Lalji’s wife, who gets a raw deal from the marriage due to Lalji’s changed behaviour.

In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama, Reeva said that Laalo gave her something that no other project has done till now. “I haven’t got the chance of doing the kind of work I got to do in this film,” she said. “So, it’s a very important film for me. I am happy that Ankit bhai trusted me for playing such a character.”

The actress also shared that the film has “100%” changed her life. “Earlier, your friends, family and near ones knew you. Other people used to ask, ‘Are you an actor? In which projects have you worked?’ The general population wasn’t aware. But now, the difference is that a lot of people know me. They recognize me when they see me on the road. Maybe, now they will themselves say, ‘I have seen you in Laalo’. I won’t need to state in which project I have worked,” she said.

In an earlier interview, director Ankit Sakhiya revealed that there were times when Reeva was the only female present on the sets among the entire cast and crew.

When asked how that experience was, Reeva said, “During the time when I was the only female on the set, these people made sure that there is an environment that doesn’t let me feel that there is no other female over there.”
