Fatima Sana Shaikh reveals she was “too hard” on herself after Dangal: “I wanted to hide under a rock”
Actor Fatima Sana Shaikh has opened up about her long journey with self-doubt, vulnerability and growth, reflecting on how her relationship with herself has evolved over the years.

In a recent interview with Cosmopolitan India, Shaikh spoke candidly about the emotional pressures she faced early in her career — particularly in the aftermath of Dangal, the blockbuster that brought her nationwide recognition. Looking back at her 24-year-old self, she admitted, “I was so hard on myself, I wanted to hide under a rock. I wish I could tell the younger me to not be scared and live in the moment.”
A Decade in the Spotlight
2026 marks a decade of Shaikh living in the public eye. Over the years, she has been transparent about her personal battles, including living with epilepsy and navigating the constant scrutiny that comes with fame.
“At one point my epilepsy was so out of control that I was always afraid of being in places with a lot of media,” she revealed. The actor has previously spoken about the pressure to appear flawless in an industry that often equates visibility with perfection. But today, she says, her outlook is shifting. “As I’ve grown older, I’m learning to be more comfortable in my skin,” she added.
Professionally, Shaikh has a packed slate for 2026. She is set to star in an untitled spy drama series alongside Bobby Deol, as well as an untitled police procedural project.
