Finnish President Alexander Stubb talks about watching Dhurandhar before India visit; says he’s “looking forward to the sequel”
The buzz around the upcoming spy thriller Dhurandhar: The Revenge has now reached global corridors of power. In a surprising moment during a recent interaction with ANI, Alexander Stubb revealed that he had watched the first Dhurandhar film before his visit to India—on the recommendation of his son.

Speaking about the film, Stubb shared an anecdote that instantly caught the attention of fans and film enthusiasts alike. “Interestingly enough, before I came to India, my son suggested that I should watch Dhurandhar. And I did. And of course, that was one part of the narrative of that movie. And I guess, I’m happy to fight against terrorism and look forward to the sequel on the 19th of March of the movie,” he said.
His remarks come just a day after the trailer of Dhurandhar: The Revenge—the sequel to the blockbuster Dhurandhar—was unveiled on March 7, generating massive anticipation among audiences. The film continues the gripping narrative inspired by real-life espionage events and focuses on the story of Hamza Ali Mazari, who is in reality Indian spy Jaskirat Singh Rangi. The character infiltrates terrorist networks operating from Pakistan that were involved in orchestrating attacks on India, forming the central spine of the high-stakes thriller.

The sequel boasts a powerful ensemble cast led by Ranveer Singh in the lead role, alongside R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi, Sara Arjun, and Akshaye Khanna, who is expected to appear in flashback sequences. The film is written, co-produced, and directed by Aditya Dhar, best known for directing Uri: The Surgical Strike. Backed by producers Jyoti Deshpande, Aditya Dhar, and Lokesh Dhar, the film is being produced under the banners of Jio Studios and B62 Studios.
The first installment, Dhurandhar, released on December 5 and went on to become a major box-office success, praised for its gripping narrative, intense performances, and patriotic undertones. The sequel aims to build on that momentum with a larger scale and deeper exploration of the espionage world.
With Dhurandhar: The Revenge slated to release theatrically on March 19, 2026, the film will arrive during a festive window coinciding with celebrations of Gudi Padwa, Ugadi, and Eid-al-Fitr. And if President Alexander Stubb’s enthusiastic reaction is anything to go by, the film’s reach may well extend far beyond Indian audiences, further amplifying the global curiosity surrounding the franchise.
