The 19th Convocation Ceremony of Whistling Woods International was held at an auditorium in Mumbai on January 24. Hence, it also coincided with its founder, Subhash Ghai’s 81st birthday. The special occasion was graced by Subhash Ghai along with popular Bengali and Hindi actor Prosenjit Chatterjee and ace cinematographer Anil Mehta. Both were confirmed with the honour of Maestro. Jackie Shroff and the faculty members joined them on stage and felicitated the graduates. After the event, Subhash Ghai, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Anil Mehta and Ghai’s daughter, Meghna Ghai Puri, President, Whistling Woods International, spoke to a select group of mediapersons. Border 2 Box Office: Film jumps well on Saturday, all set to enter Rs. 100 Crore Club in its opening weekend

Image
Border 2 has seen a good jump at the box office on Saturday. The film had collected Rs. 32.10 crores on Friday and now on Saturday it has not just breached the Rs. 40 crores mark but also collected a bit more to move all the way up to Rs. 40.59 crores. This is a solid jump and for a biggie like this, which has already opened on north of 30 crores, to now exceed Rs. 40 crores is a solid achievement. On Friday one expected the film to open well within Rs. 35-40 crores and when that didn’t happen, all eyes were on how the trajectory would look like on Saturday. Of course, even Rs. 32.10 crores was a superb number given the fact how films have been opening in the last 17 months since the last Rs. 50 crores+ opener Stree 2 (August 2024). However, since Border 2 is follow up to a classic, expectations were much higher as well. The good part is that word of mouth for the film is positive and that can well be seen in the way Saturday has behaved. While collections will jump today as well,...

EXCLUSIVE: Sajid Khan’s horror flick Hundred goes on floors; stars Yashvardhan Ahuja, Nitanshi Goel

Image
Sajid Khan’s directorial journey began successfully and he delivered three back-to-back hits. After a hiatus, he has once again worn the director’s hat. Bollywood Hungama has learned that the filmmaker quietly began shooting for his next film, titled Hundred . Interestingly, while all his previous films were comic capers, Hundred is a horror flick. A source told us, “The makers of Hundred began the shoot of the film in Mumbai’s Film City on Friday, January 23. They purposely chose this day to coincide with the commencement of the filming on the occasion of Basant Panchmi.” Bollywood Hungama has further learned that Hundred marks the launch of Yashvardhan Ahuja, son of Govinda and Sunita Ahuja. Nitanshi Goel, of Laapataa Ladies (2024) fame, has come on board as the female lead. Hundred is produced by Amar Butala’s Guilty By Association Media and Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms. Amar Butala has earlier produced Sidharth Malhotra-Rashmika Mandanna starrer Missio...

False alarms and box office fear: Dhurandhar 2 stands its ground on release date

Image
There is a mounting rumour being spread by vested interests that the release of Dhurandhar 2 is being postponed. I’ve never seen such a fear psychosis grip the ostensible competition. While other releases in and around Dhurandhar 2 ’s release date of March 19 — and yes, March 19 it is, no matter how many planted stories suggest an imagined postponement have quietly and gracefully chosen less risky Fridays, the misinformation continues unabated. It is Geetu Mohandas’ Toxic that appears to have made an egoistic issue out of this so-called competition. Wildly unsubstantiated stories of Dhurandhar 2 being postponed are being circulated, and no prizes for guessing where they are coming from. A source in the know tells me, “It has become an izzat ka sawaal . How can we move? We will be seen as having weaker content. This kind of foolish egocentricity is what is ruining the entertainment business.” The graceful thing to do would be to bow out and return a few weeks later, when the Dhur...

EXCLUSIVE: Vadh 2 trailer to drop on January 27; Luv Ranjan reveals why it’s not a “forced sequel”: “When a small film does well, makers try to make the sequel grand…we haven’t changed the grain”

Image
Vadh 2 is all set to release on February 6 and in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama , talented and enterprising producer Luv Ranjan spoke about the Sanjay Mishra-Neena Gupta starrer, when its trailer will be out, what Luv Films stands for, his love for Gurugram’s Cyber Hub and a lot more. When did you decide that a sequel to Vadh would be a good idea? Jaspal Singh Sandhu sir and I were discussing what to do next. We realized that there can’t be a true sequel as such to this film. The story of the two characters in the first part had come to an end. However, the concept of ‘ vadh ’ can be revisited by exploring another social evil and how a simple man fights it to protect someone he loves. With Vadh ’s first part, the appreciation was slow, but suddenly, it got a lot of love and also awards. That also motivated us to try for a second part. Jaspal sir cracked a story which we all loved and we felt that its worth doing. Vadh released when the Drishyam 2 wave was going...

“Proud”: Karan Johar and Neeraj Ghaywan REACT after Homebound misses Oscars 2026 nomination

Image
India’s quest for an Academy Award in the Best International Feature Film category remains unfulfilled as the country’s official entry, Homebound , failed to secure a nomination for the 98th Academy Awards. The announcement, made on Thursday, January 22, by actors Danielle Brooks and Lewis Pullman, confirmed that the Neeraj Ghaywan directorial did not make the final cut of five films. Despite the setback, the film’s producers and director expressed a sense of pride and camaraderie. Shortly after the nominations were revealed, producer Karan Johar took to his Instagram story to share his reaction. Posting several stills from the film, he expressed his unwavering admiration for the project and its visionary director. “Proud!!! Love you Neeraj Ghaywan for allowing us to bask in your light,” Johar wrote, signaling that the film’s value transcends award recognition. Director Neeraj Ghaywan was quick to acknowledge the producer’s constant support. Reposting Johar’s story, Ghaywan express...
