Friends cast issue a joint statement grieving the loss of Matthew Perry aka Chandler Bing

On October 28, fans across the globe mourned the loss of one of the most popular actors, Matthew Perry. The actor was found dead in his hot tub at his Los Angeles home. While investigations are currently on to determine the cause of his death, the entertainment industry has been mourning the loss of the ‘Friends’ actor, most known for his role as Chandler Bing in the iconic 1994 sitcom. After the production houses Warner Bros and NBC Studios issued a statement along with the show creators Marta Kauffman, David Krane and producer Kevin Bright paying a tribute to Perry, the late actor’s entire set of co-actors expressed their grief in a joint statement.

The said statement was issued by the entire lead cast of Friends which included Courtney Cox, who essayed the role of Chandler’s wife Monica Geller, Matt Le Blanc who essayed the character of Bing’s bestie Joey Tribbiani, David Schwimmer who played the role of Chandler’s collegemate and his other bestie Ross Geller, Lisa Kudrow aka Phoebe Buffay, and Jennifer Anniston aka Rachel Green. “We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss,” said the entire cast in a statement given to People’s Magazine. They continued, “In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”

Apart from them, Maggie Wheeler, who played the role of Chandler’s ex-girlfriend Janice Wheeler, also penned a heartfelt note on social media over the demise of Perry. She posted a photo from the first season of the sitcom, and said, “What a loss. The world will miss you Matthew Perry. The joy you brought to so many in your too short lifetime will live on. I feel so very blessed by every creative moment we shared.”

Friends was an iconic sitcom following the life of six New Yorkers which aired from 1994 to 2004 and went on to find cult status not just in the US but across the world.
