Cocktail 2 advance booking: Shahid Kapoor-Kriti Sanon-Rashmika Mandanna starrer sells 23,000 tickets in national chains; all set to surpass Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai today

The advance booking of Cocktail 2 has gathered momentum as the release draws closer. The Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna-starrer has now sold approximately 23,000 tickets across the national multiplex chains for its opening day, putting it on course for a decent finish ahead of Friday’s release. As per the latest update, PVR INOX has contributed around 20,500 tickets, while Cinepolis has sold approximately 2,500 tickets, taking the combined total to 23,000 tickets. With nearly two days of advance booking still remaining, trade expects the film to witness another healthy jump. The latest numbers have enabled Cocktail 2 to almost catch up with Chand Mera Dil , which had closed its Day 1 advance booking at around 26,500 tickets across the national multiplex chains. Aamir Khan’s iconic sports drama Lagaan has enjoyed a warm response during its limited theatrical re-release. The Oscar-nominated classic, which returned to cinemas last Friday across just 9 cities, has collected Rs. 4.47 lakh nett in its first four days. The film opened on Friday with Rs. 43,724 nett, recording an occupancy of 19.93%. Word of mouth and nostalgia powered impressive growth over the weekend as collections jumped to Rs. 1,33,110 nett on Saturday with 51.45% occupancy, followed by the best day of the run on Sunday with Rs. 2,20,980 nett and an excellent 70.42% occupancy. As expected, collections witnessed a drop on Monday, with the film collecting Rs. 50,107 nett at 20.09% occupancy. This took the four-day total to Rs. 4.47 lakh nett. The upcoming schedule will bring lead actors Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal back together for one of the film’s biggest sequences to date.
