Main Vaapas Aaunga Box Office: PVR INOX-Cinepolis Week 2 collections jump 89.8% over Week 1
Main Vaapas Aaunga continues to deliver a rare and highly encouraging box office trend. After showing strong growth in its second week at the all-India level, the film has now recorded a similar jump in India’s two biggest national multiplex chains: PVR INOX and Cinepolis.

In Week 1, Main Vaapas Aaunga collected Rs. 6.69 crores from PVR INOX and Rs. 1.84 crores from Cinepolis, taking the combined total from the two chains to Rs. 8.53 crores. However, in Week 2, the film did not slow down. Instead, it grew substantially, collecting Rs. 12.21 crores from PVR INOX and Rs. 3.98 crores from Cinepolis. The combined Week 2 total from these two chains stands at Rs. 16.19 crores.
This means that the film’s Week 2 collections in PVR INOX and Cinepolis were nearly 190% of Week 1. In terms of actual growth, the film jumped by around 89.8% in Week 2 over Week 1; a near-doubling of collections.
The growth was visible across both chains. PVR INOX saw collections rise from Rs. 6.69 crores in Week 1 to Rs. 12.21 crores in Week 2, showing a jump of around 82.5%. Cinepolis witnessed an even sharper spike, growing from Rs. 1.84 crores in Week 1 to Rs. 3.98 crores in Week 2, a growth of around 116.3%.
This trend is significant because multiplex-driven films usually see their biggest push in the opening weekend and then depend on weekday hold. But Main Vaapas Aaunga has flipped the script. Its second week in the major national chains has turned out to be much stronger than the first, indicating that the film has benefited tremendously from audience acceptance and positive word of mouth.
The performance also proves that the growth is not restricted to isolated pockets. With both PVR INOX and Cinepolis showing major jumps, Main Vaapas Aaunga has clearly found traction among urban multiplex audiences. A Week 2 bigger than Week 1 is always rare, but for the two leading national chains to nearly double their combined collections in the second week makes the trend even more remarkable.
In a box office climate where most films begin to lose steam after the opening weekend, Main Vaapas Aaunga has taken the opposite route. The film started modestly, gathered momentum and then grew strongly in its second week. The national chain numbers are now further proof that this is no ordinary hold — it is a genuine word-of-mouth surge.
