EXCLUSIVE: “Akshay Kumar sir taught me a lot, maybe I didn’t realize then as I was much younger,” says Prerna Arora
Producer Prerna Arora has had a successful association with Akshay Kumar. In fact, the duo has had a trilogy of successful films in the form of Rustom (2016), Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017) and Pad Man (2018). During an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Arora looked back at working with the superstar.
“Akshay sir is somebody I respect a lot,” she said. “I have learnt my every move from him. He has taught me a lot. Maybe that time I didn’t realize as I was much younger but today with a little bit more maturity, I understand what he said. Today, I am following everything he said and that will be the key to my success going forward.”
The producer also looked back at the challenging phase in her career. “In between, whatever he taught me, I didn’t do it right and fell. And whatever I am doing right now correctly is because of Akshay sir,” she said.
When it comes to working with Akshay again, Arora said, “In the future once his dates are free and once I give a couple of big hits here (south cinema), I would like to work with him again.”
Continuing on why success is very important for her now, she said, “The aim is to not just make any movie. The pressure is high. Before COVID and before OTT came in, there were specific producers and production houses. With OTT coming in, there are so many good and fresh directors and new production houses coming in. So, the competition has increased a lot. Now, it’s going to be survival of the fittest. Only those who give blockbusters will be remembered by the audience, system and film industry.”
Arora added, “For me, now the challenge is to not just make films; this time I have to make a film and give a superhit, like Rustom, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Pad Man and Pari. I have to get back to the midas touch that I had. I think now I am only going to do that. I will not leave any stone unturned this time.”
Prerna Arora was in the news earlier this month for collaborating with director Srikanth Puppala for her next starring Kiran Abbavaram, which is tentatively titled KA16. She is also venturing into Malayalam cinema with a thriller starring Anupama Parameswaran.
