On Wednesday, Sivakarthikeyan fans rejoiced as the actor’s highly awaited action entertainer, which was being referred to as SK25, finally received its title as Parasakthi. The makers – Dawn Pictures unveiled the same along with an announcement that sparked ample excitement among social media users. However, soon, the title became a bone of contention when another popular actor-filmmaker Vijay Antony took to the platform to share a letter, alleging his rights over the title, resulting in a war of claims and counterclaims.

Vijay Antony drops a copy of the letter from The South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce

Soon after the title of the Sivakarthikeyan starrer was unveiled, Vijay Antony took to the social media platform X aka Twitter wherein he shared a letter from The South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce, dated August 22, 2024 which ‘certified’ that ‘Sir Vijay Antony’ is the proprietor of Paraashakthi (Telugu) which was ‘registered in their favour’.

Meanwhile, producers of SK25 too decided to share their side of the story by posting a copy of their approval they received from the Tamil Film Producers Council and Telugu Film Producers Council. It read, “Mr. Akash Baskaran is the Proprietor of above said firm, and is one of the Producer Member of Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) as shown in our records. They have registered a Tamil Film title “PARASAKTHI” in Tamil Film Producers Council”, with the same approval was also given by the Telugu council.


AVM Productions come in support of Dawn Pictures

For the unversed, the production house, which has been a part of Indian Cinema for over nine decades, originally owned the rights to the movie Parasakthi which released in 1952 starring Sivaji Ganesan. Now, seventy years later after the release of the original, the production house has showcased support to the Sivakarthikeyan starrer by stating that they have decided to let go off the title after owning it for seven decades. In a letter issued by AVM Productions, “It has been 73 Years since our film “Parasakthi a cult classic set a benchmark in Tamil Cinema by shining a light on social injustices then. Today, we are very excited to pass on the baton to Dawn Pictures. The story they are going to tell will carry forward the spirit of resistance which will only make our title “Parasakthi” burn brighter and continue to inspire future generations.”


About Parasakthi

The Sivakarthikeyan starrer is directed by Sudha Kongara and also features an ensemble cast of Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa and Sreeleela in key roles. The film is a period political drama with music composed by G.V. Prakash Kumar.
