Paresh Rawal DEFENDS Akshay Kumar amid criticism over doing multiple films in a year: “He isn’t smuggling, boot-legging, selling drugs, or gambling”
Bollywood veteran Paresh Rawal has come to the defense of his long-time co-star Akshay Kumar, addressing criticism about the actor’s decision to do multiple films a year. Speaking in an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Paresh dismissed concerns over Akshay’s packed schedule and questioned why anyone should have a problem with his work ethic. The two actors share a long history, having worked together in several iconic films, including Hera Pheri, Phir Hera Pheri, OMG: Oh My God, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa.
Paresh Rawal emphasized that Akshay Kumar’s dedication to his craft sets him apart from others in the industry. Praising his colleague, he said, “He is not just extremely hardworking but very honest, too. There is no hidden agenda when he converses with you. The integrity is top-notch, and he is a proper family man. It feels nice to talk to him, and be around him.” The veteran actor also acknowledged that working with a close friend like Akshay is always rewarding. “Working with him is fun; money is just an added bonus,” he added.
Addressing criticism about Akshay Kumar’s choice to do four to five films a year, Paresh Rawal questioned why people had an issue with his work. “Honestly, what is your problem if he does so many films? People go to him to make the films, right? As a producer, I would sign an actor only if I can account for the money I am investing,” he said, highlighting that producers continue to work with Akshay because of his reliability and star power.
Paresh further stressed that Akshay Kumar’s work benefits many people in the film industry. Dismissing the negative comments about his packed schedule, he said, “He just likes to work. He isn’t smuggling, boot-legging, selling drugs, or gambling. He is just working as much as he possibly can. And more importantly, his films are also a source of employment for thousands. Where is the problem?”
Having said that it is worth mentioning here that the duo is currently shooting for their next, Bhooth Bangla. The upcoming horror-comedy is being directed by Priyadarshan and is slated to release on April 2 next year.
