EXCLUSIVE: Bhumi Pednekar on why Daldal became a creative equaliser for her, “I don’t know if that’s politically correct to say but…”

In an industry often divided between “stars” and “newcomers,” Daldal quietly dismantles that hierarchy, and Bhumi Pednekar was the first to acknowledge it in her exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama. “Whatever scenes I have with Samara and Aditya, they are incredible performers,” Bhumi said without hesitation. “I am genuinely inspired by both of them.”

What makes her praise noteworthy is the honesty with which she admits how rare such inspiration is. “It’s very rare to find inspiration from people you’re working with today. I don’t know if that’s politically correct to say but it’s true.” Bhumi described the on-set energy as unexpectedly light despite the intensity of the material. “They were playing such dark, intense parts, yet there was a lightness in the way they conducted themselves.”

She even noticed a choreography-like rhythm in their scenes. “There were moments where it almost felt choreographed, the way they were reacting to each other. They were so in sync.”

Producer Vikram Malhotra believes this balance is no accident. “The depth of talent in this country is enormous. It’s about writing the right roles and having the conviction to cast fresher talent in powerful parts.”

Bhumi went a step further, calling Daldal a turning point. “I’m excited for the world to see how they perceive both of them. I genuinely feel this is what they deserve this kind of writing, this kind of conviction.”

For a senior actor to speak this openly about creative equality is rare and telling. Daldal does not revolve around a single performance; it thrives on the tension, silence and collision between its characters.

In doing so, it becomes not just a showcase for Bhumi Pednekar’s restraint but also a launchpad for actors who might otherwise have waited years for such textured material. The series reminds us that when the writing is strong and the environment is safe, hierarchy dissolves and talent rises.
