Directed by Shazia Iqbal, the 2025 release follows a Dalit protagonist navigating life at an elite law college, placing caste dynamics and social hierarchies at the centre of a mainstream Hindi narrative. The film has been noted for bringing conversations around Dalit politics into multiplex cinema.

Among the institutions hosting screenings is Yale University, where Dhadak 2 was scheduled to be shown at Luce Hall as part of a Film at Yale event presented by the Department of Political Science. The screening was accompanied by a follow-up discussion featuring Iqbal and co-writer Rahul Badwelkar under a related event organised by the MacMillan Center.

Similarly, Columbia University hosted a screening and discussion through its PSA in collaboration with Club Zamana, the Department of Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies, and the Institute of Comparative Literature and Society (ICLS).

Released on August 1, 2025, Dhadak 2 has found a second life in academic spaces, where it is being engaged with not merely as a commercial film but as a text exploring structural inequality and urban caste realities.
