Karan Johar says Dhurandhar The Revenge reminds him of “pure solid Hindi cinema”; lauds Ranveer Singh’s “career best” performance and “naya director” Aditya Dhar
Dhurandhar The Revenge has continued to dominate conversations across social media and the trade ever since its release on March 19. Whether admired or debated, the film has remained firmly in the spotlight while setting multiple box office benchmarks along the way. Adding to the growing chorus of appreciation, filmmaker Karan Johar recently shared an extensive note praising the film’s storytelling, performances and technical execution.

Taking to social media, Johar highlighted that the conversation around the film goes far beyond its surface themes. He pointed to the emotional backstory of the character Jaskirat, the sacrifices made for the nation, and the layered portrayal of even the antagonist as some of the film’s strongest aspects. He also praised the overall craft and soundscape, calling the film a reflection of director Aditya Dhar’s command over mainstream cinema.
Johar described Dhar as a filmmaker who not only raises the bar but also creates a new one with each outing. He further expressed confidence that the film would continue rewriting box office records in the coming weeks.
The filmmaker reserved special praise for lead actor Ranveer Singh, calling his performance the finest of his career so far. Johar wrote that Singh’s emotional moments, restrained silences and screen presence together reaffirm his stature as one of the most accomplished performers of his generation.

Reflecting on his personal viewing experience, Johar noted that the film reminded him of the era when he watched powerful Hindi films in single-screen theatres during the 1970s. He added that Dhurandhar The Revenge made him feel proud to be part of the film industry today.
