In a landmark move to ensure drug-free film sets, the Kerala Film Producers Association (KFPA) has announced that all actors, technicians, and crew members working in Mollywood will soon be required to sign a ‘no drugs’ affidavit along with their remuneration contracts. The initiative is set to be implemented on June 26, coinciding with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. According to a report by OnManorama, this step is being taken by the KFPA to maintain a clean and safe working environment on film sets and at crew accommodations. The affidavit will legally bind individuals from consuming or possessing narcotics not just at the shooting locations, but also at the premises where they are housed during the shoot. The producers’ body has written to both the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) and the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) seeking their support.
